General Race Information
- Organized in accordance with the rules and regulations of ASA and EPA. All athletes indemnify the National, Provincial and Regional bodies, sponsors and organizers against all and any actions of whatsoever nature.
- The 42.2km race will start at 05h30 on the R63 road about 40km outside Graaff-Reinet towards Murraysburg, about 6.5km before the Western Cape border. The 21.1km race will start at 06h30 from the Dassiesfontein turnoff at the top of Ouberg pass, about 20km outside Graaff-Reinet on the R63. The 10km and the 16km trail run race will start at 07h00 from the Botanics in Graaff-Reinet.
- There will be a bus shuttle service available for a selected number of athletes. These shuttles will be leaving the Botanics at 04h30 – first come, first serve. Athletes are permitted to arrange their own drop-off to their relevant starts. PLEASE NOTE: This will be a drop-and-go only, no vehicles will be permitted to stay to watch the start for the 42km and the 21km. Please ensure you are at the start lines 30 minutes before the race starts. There will be parking available inside the main back gate of the Botanics by 04h00.
- Online entries are available on www.webtickets.co.za. Online entries will close at 23h00 on Sunday, 15 February 2026.
- The race committee reserves the right to accept or reject any entry.
- Race briefing and collection of race numbers will be available on Friday, 20 February 2026 between 13h00 and 19h00 from the Coldstream Restaurant, Graaff-Reinet.
- Late entries will be taken on Friday, 20 February 2026 between 13h00 and 19h00.
- Race numbers will contain a chip and must be clearly visible at the finish line.
- Entry fees are non-refundable. A receipt/proof of payment may be required in case of any discrepancy with pre-entries.
- All traffic officials and marshals must be obeyed.
- The wearing of earphones or headsets is not permitted due to safety reasons and may lead to disqualification.
- Medals will be awarded to all finishers that finish within the cut-off time.
- The minimum age is as follows: 42.2km – 20 years / 21.1km – 16 years.
- The cut-off time will be at 11h30 for the 42.2km (6 hours), 10h00 for the 21.1km (3½ hours), 10h00 for the 16km trail run (3 hours) and 08h45 for the 10km (1¾ hours).
- Club gazebos are welcome. The venue has a liquor license and therefore no alcohol may be brought onto the premises. Please support the Botanics bar.
- Athletes must wear 2026 license numbers on the back and front of the vest/shirt, with the official race number on the front.
- Athletes who are not licensed members of a club affiliated to ASA must purchase a temporary license to be worn on the back of the vest.
- Age category tags must be visible on the front and back of your vest if you wish to qualify for category prizes. Athletes may be requested to provide proof of age on race day.
- Prize giving and lucky draws will be held at 11h45 for all races at the Botanic Sports Club. Athletes must be dressed in their official club colors.
- Registered athletes are covered by a group personal insurance scheme. Temporary licensed athletes have no cover and are urged to join an affiliated club.
- Please obey parking marshals.
- Athletes must run facing traffic at all times, unless instructed otherwise by a marshal.
- No personal seconding (vehicle or bicycle) will be allowed on the route for the first 21.1km.
- Refuse bins will be placed up to 500m after the water stations. Please discard all litter (sachets/bottles/cups/other) into the bins provided and not beyond the designated points. DO NOT THROW YOUR LITTER INTO THE BUSH. If need be, keep it with you until the next bin.
- Disposing litter outside the demarcated zone may result in disqualification and a fine.
